Formerly EZ Lube, the vehicle maintanence company offers oil, antifreeze and differential fluid changes, fuel system cleaning and a number of other auto care services. Valvoline is owned and operated by Covington, Ky.-based Ashland, Inc., a manufacturing and chemical distribution company.

2. Firestone Complete Auto Care: 4,008 openings.

Firestone Complete Auto Care is a car maintenance chain that was spun off from one of the oldest American tire companies. There are more than 1,600 locations nationwide, many of which are open late and on weekends and -- along with selling and servicing its name-brand tires -- where its mechanics do repairs and other kinds of work on cars.

3. NAPA: 3,554 part-time openings.

The automotive parts retailer has over 6,000 stores and 14,000 affiliated repair centers across the United States. Based in Atlanta, Ga., it has an inventory of over 400,000 parts and equipment used for the car repair, collision, heavy-duty truck and industrial markets. The company is a subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company.

4. ResCare: 3,522 openings.

ResCare is the nation's largest disabilities services and senior care provider. Employing over 46,000 people, the Louisville, Ky.-based human services company education, vocational training and job placement for people of all ages.

Based out of Davenport, Iowa, Tires Plus has more than 500 stores in 23 states. Tires Plus offers products for the whole gamut of automobiles, from compacts cars to SUVs. Along with Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus is owned by Bridgestone Retail Operations. And in sum, Bridgestone is the world's largest chain of company-owned auto care centers.

6. AT&T: 3,167 openings.

Wireless giant AT&T continues to hire in large volumes, as many customers upgrade their smartphones and purchase tablets that require LTE data plans. It recently announced that it will be adding more wireless subscribers than expected.

7. Verizon Wireless: 3,024 openings

Verizon Wireless operates the largest mobile network in the United States. The Basking Ridge, New Jersey-based company is a subsidiary of Verizon Communications and Vodafone, although Verizon announced in September that it agreed to buy Vodafone's 45 percent stake in the company for $130 billion. Expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, it is the third largest announced deal in the world, Reuters reported.

Founded in 1879, Bankers is a life and health insurance company that services the retirement market. It is based in Chicago, Ill., and operates in 275 offices nationwide. The financial company is a subsidiary of CNO Financial Group.
